Worsted Weight (4) Approximately 100 yards
75 yards MC
25 yards CC
US 5 (3.75mm)16″ circular
US 7 (4.50mm) 16″ circular (and DPNs/magic loop)
Abbreviations to know:
K = knit
MC = Main color
CC = contrast color
CDD = Centered Double Decrease (slip 2 stitches together, knitwise, knit one, pass slipped stitches over.)
With smaller needles.
Using MC, Cast on 80 st and join in the round.
Rows 1-10: (Knit 1, Purl 1) around.
Switch to larger needles.
Row 11: (K 19, Knit front and back of st) around (84 st)
Row 12-16: Knit around.
Row 17: In MC K1, CC K1, (MC K2, CC K1) repeat ( ) until 1 st left. MC K1.
Row 18: CC K1, MC K1, (CC K2, MC K1) repeat ( ) until 1 st left. CC K1.
Row 19-21: CC Knit around
Row 22: Repeat Row 14.
Row 23: Repeat Row 13.
Row 24-40: In MC, Knit around.
Decrease Rounds. (If using circular needs, switch to DPNs or magic loop once circumference is too tight to fit on 16″ circular)
Row 1: (K 18, CDD) repeat 4 times around. (8 st decreased)
Row 2: Knit around.
Repeat rows 1 & 2 until 4 st remain. Cut yarn with 6″+ tail and thread through remaining stitches, pulling tight to close. Weave in ends and block gently.
